The animals that are most likely to be living in your attic are squirrels and raccoons.
Squirrels typically live in trees but once they gain entrance into a home they go ahead to get comfortable in the attic.
So if i see acorns in my attic the tendency would be to think that they are squirrels but really it s probably a mice problem.
Believe it or not acorns are very very common for mice to bring into structures and then to find them in weird places.
